Welcome to my life as an Australian expat...
November 15th 2007 14:02
This blog is about all the thrills, spills, adventures, misadventures, excitement and embarrassment connected to living as a foreigner in the land of sausages and sauerkraut.
While being fun and personal, this blog also aims to communicate interesting facts and observations about Germany and the Germans. Its content might be especially interesting to fellow Aussie expats who have ended up living overseas for whatever reason.
Why am I in Germany? For purely romantic reasons. My boyfriend is German and at the moment it is harder for him to move countries than it is for me. So I ended up following him all the way to his homeland, to the city of Bonn (near Cologne) where we now live together.
I come from Sydney and I have a degree in media studies (majoring in print journalism). This blog is a great outlet for my love of writing.
Enjoy!

Fun Facts
I also find it interesting that you have moved to Germany as one of my new-found friends here was herself an expat in Germany, having returned this year after almost 5 years of living there to her native Britain.
Good luck with it all - you'll need it I'm sure!

Life in Germany
I can't express how incredibly shocked I was (in a good way) to see how much attention my very first post in my first EVER internet blog attracted in the first 24 hours of its existence!! I could hardly contain my excitement when I read through these comments this morning.
Now I feel EVEN more motivated to keep blogging!
Thank you for this incredible support. I am thrilled!
